A new internal website and mobile application for sales lead submissions was being launched and the organisation needed to train a time-poor workforce with limited resourcing to do so. The training had to be quick for the Learning and Development team to learn and deliver, effective at conveying the learning objectives, and motivating enough to encourage employees to use the new platforms.

I implemented a blended training solution that used already scheduled team meetings across the organization to deliver short, instructor-led sessions. For a practical walkthrough, I developed a step-by-step eLearning module that employees could complete at their desks. I also created a one-page communication poster to serve as a follow-up reminder.

My process began with meeting with leadership to define learning objectives, outline a clear plan, and understand the obstacles that we needed to keep in mind when building training. To keep the learning program user-centred, I opted for the blended learning approach to address the challenges of training busy employees. The objective of the in-person training was to motivate and highlight incentives, while the eLearn provided learners with a practical walkthrough, all the while having almost no impact on their core responsibilities. I created the immersive eLearning and wrote the one-page resource, then trained the L&D team to ensure a seamless rollout.

The training was well-received by all stakeholders. Learners were excited about the new incentives, the L&D team appreciated its simple implementation, and the organisation's leadership team was grateful for the lack of a disruption it had on daily operations.
